Privacy policy draft
Daylume Privacy Policy
This page describes the Daylume 1.0 privacy posture: BYOK AI processing with Gemini, local-first storage, and optional local route trails.
Preview draft: final legal operator, contact details, production domain, and App Store Connect values must be approved before this page is used as the production Privacy Policy URL.
Summary
- Daylume stores your journal media and sidecar data locally on your device.
- AI features are BYOK: you provide your own Gemini API key and can remove it in Settings.
- Route trails are optional, permission-gated, and saved on device during voice memo recording.
- Daylume 1.0 does not include a developer-hosted Managed AI backend, ads, tracking, or data broker sharing.
Information Stored On Your Device
Daylume can store voice memos, text notes, imported images, transcripts, image-analysis sidecars, daily summaries, daily chat threads, archive state, and optional route trail sidecars on your device. Local exports can include these files when you choose to export local data.
BYOK Gemini AI Processing
Daylume 1.0 uses a bring-your-own-key model for AI features. If you enable AI consent and save a Gemini API key, selected content can be sent directly from your device to Gemini/Google for app functionality such as transcription, image analysis, daily summaries, and daily chat.
The Gemini API key you enter is stored locally in iOS Keychain. Daylume 1.0 does not use a developer-hosted Managed AI backend for these requests.
Optional Route Trails
Route trails are off by default. If you enable route trails, Daylume asks for When In Use location permission and records location points only while a voice memo is recording.
Route trails are stored on your device as local sidecar files next to the recording. Daylume does not automatically send route coordinates to our servers, Gemini, analytics providers, advertisers, or data brokers.
If you export local data, the export package includes route sidecar files. If you share a route summary image, the image contains aggregate route stats but not raw coordinates or audio filenames.
Export And Sharing
When you choose Export Local Data, Daylume creates a local export package. If route trails exist, the package can include route sidecar files. When you choose to share a route summary image, Daylume creates a local image with aggregate route stats and presents the system share sheet.
Tracking, Ads, And Data Brokers
Daylume 1.0 does not include ads or tracking SDKs. Daylume 1.0 does not sell data to data brokers.
Permissions
- Microphone: used to record voice memos.
